OET Study Plan: YouTube + Error Tracking

Learn the format, then log every recurring mistake. Tie each error type to a timed practice task instead of rewatching random videos. Use official OET samples to calibrate difficulty. OET Practice is independent and not affiliated with OET; practice bands are feedback, not official scores.

Weekly loop

  1. Watch or read one short technique source (structure only).
  2. Complete one timed skill or part.
  3. Log mistakes: type, example, fix for next time.
  4. Drill only the top two error types before the next mock.

Error types to track

  • Writing: buried purpose, excess background, informal tone.
  • Speaking: advice before eliciting, missed empathy, no check-back.
  • Listening/Reading: Part C distractors, spelling, time mismanagement.
Videos teach structure. Timed practice builds the skill. Do both.
