Privacy Policy
OET Practice collects the minimum needed to run practice tests and show your progress: account details, test submissions, and platform analytics. This page explains what we store, who can see it, and your choices.
Accounts and submissions
We store your profile, answers, scores, and grades so dashboards, history, and leaderboards work. Objective answers are graded server-side; answer keys are never exposed to browsers.
Your Writing answers and Speaking transcripts may be sent to an AI provider (through OpenRouter) to prepare draft feedback, which our team uses when marking. When automatic release is enabled, a Writing result that our AI grader is confident about may be marked by AI and released to you automatically, without a person reviewing it first. Such results are labelled "AI-marked, spot-checked by our team", and our team spot-checks a sample of them. Automatic release is currently switched off, so a person on our team reviews every Writing and Speaking result before you see it. Speaking results are never released automatically: a person on our team always reviews them. You can ask for a person on our team to review any result by using the Feedback button on the page.
When you use the Feedback button, we store your message and technical details that help us find the problem: the page you were on (with the test and part, but never your answers or private links), your device, browser and screen size, and any errors from that visit (with email addresses and private links removed). You can see exactly what is sent before you send it. If you are signed in we link it to your account, keep the conversation with our team in Help & feedback, and store any screenshots you attach privately; if not, we store the email address only when you choose to give one. Feedback and screenshots are visible to you and our admin team only.
We record technical problems that happen during a test so we can find and fix them. This includes the error, the part of the test where it happened, and your browser and device type. It does not include your answers or recordings. If an AI service fails while you practise, we keep a short copy of what was sent and what came back. That copy can include a few of the words you said in a Speaking role-play. We delete these copies after 30 days and the rest of the record after 90 days. Only our admin team can see them.
Speaking recordings are private
Voice recordings are stored privately and are playable only by you and by reviewers grading your submission. They are never published, indexed, or shared, and never embedded in public pages, sitemaps, or forum posts. Recordings are made only after you start a Speaking task (your consent to record that attempt).
You may ask for your recordings to be deleted at any time via the contact channel below; deletion removes the audio and its references from your submissions.
Emails we send
We email you about your account and your own test results (for example when a Writing or Speaking practice band is ready), and occasionally to remind you to finish a saved test. You can switch off result emails and test reminders any time in Settings, or via the one-click unsubscribe link in those emails. Welcome mail is sent once when you create an account. We do not sell your email address.
Analytics and sharing
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used (pages viewed, sign-ups, test starts and submissions, and similar product events). Event data does not include answer keys, emails, or private recording URLs. We do not sell personal data. Share links you create expose only the summary score of that attempt to anyone holding the link — treat them accordingly.
Your rights and contact
You may request access, correction, or deletion of your data, including recordings, through the contact page.
OET Practice is an independent preparation platform. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to Cambridge Boxhill Language Assessment or the official Occupational English Test (OET). Our materials are original practice content, not official papers.
